# Wood
Players can gather Wood by chopping down Trees, or Shipwrecks with a [Hatchet](https://wiki.tribals.io/tribals.io-wiki/items/weapons-and-equipment/hatchet) or an [IronHatchet](https://wiki.tribals.io/tribals.io-wiki/items/weapons-and-equipment/iron-hatchet). Players can also gather Stumps from the ground, or find Wood in Barrels or at the [Pirate Event](https://wiki.tribals.io/tribals.io-wiki/special-events/pirate-event)! Palm trees respawn in 3-5 minutes after being completely cut down! Maple, fir, willow, and birch trees respawn in 5-8 minutes after being completely cut down! Shpiwrecks respawn in 30-40 minutes after being completely cut down!
Players can also use it to trade items for it in a [Vending Machine](https://wiki.tribals.io/tribals.io-wiki/building-elements/vending-machine). Wooden [Structures](https://wiki.tribals.io/tribals.io-wiki/structures) can be repaired using an [UpgradeHammer](https://wiki.tribals.io/tribals.io-wiki/items/weapons-and-equipment/upgrade-hammer). [Storage](https://wiki.tribals.io/tribals.io-wiki/building-elements/wooden-box-storage) can be upgraded using Wood. Players can also use Wood to: smelt materials, cook food and upkeep their bases.\
