# Shotgun

The Shotgun is a semi-automatic weapon best used at close range! The damage of the Shotgun decreases based on the distance you are from your target (the greater the distance, the lower the damage). To choose the desired ammunition press and hold down the "R" key then select the desired ammo type from the ammo selection wheel!\

Players can also get Shotguns at the [Pirate Event](/tribals.io-wiki/special-events/pirate-event.md)!\
The Shotgun is the best Active raiding weapon currently in Tribals!\
To craft a Shotgun players need to have a [Shotgun Book](/tribals.io-wiki/items/books/shotgun-book.md) in the [Workbench](/tribals.io-wiki/building-elements/workbench.md). Players will be able to craft Shotguns as long as the Shotgun Book stays usable! A Shotgun is only useful if players have [Shotgun Ammo](/tribals.io-wiki/items/ammunition/shotgun-ammo.md) or [Explosive Shotgun Ammo](/tribals.io-wiki/items/ammunition/explosive-shotgun-ammo.md) in their inventory!
